Medieval Soldiers Were IDIOTS! RANT! I'd say most people know that the Japanese samurai, the ancient Roman soldiers and Medieval knights were professionals. But Medieval soldiers? When it came to the Feudal levy, peasants, freemen and nobles alike were drafted. But how effective and capable were these former peasants who were now serving in the king's or whatever nobleman's army? How trained were they? Were they just hopeless peasants with pitchforks who paled in comparison with professional ancient Roman soldiers? Let's find out!
